Moorefield v St Edwards (6 – 12 to 0 – 3)
The opening U16 league game proved a one sided affair for Moorefield who were dominant from start to finish. Given the windy conditions there was some good football played. St Edwards won the first throw in and quickly set up the attack which was well defended and recycled out and worked back up field for the opening point from Jordan Mc Grath. There was some great movement from the backs, on one occasion Adam Sweeney breaking forward to link up with tommy Tobin who took a great goal. St Edwards had to wait until just before half time to take their first score at which point it was 3-9 to 0-01.
The 2nd half St Edwards looked to push forward and create chances but solid overall defensive performance kept the threat to a minimum and continued to feed the forward line. Mark Mc Dermot scored a fantastic individual point running from deep. Notable performances from Ross O Toole, Tom Connolly, Mark Dempsey and Jordan Mc Grath.
For St Edwards notable performance came from Joey Toman, Shaun Flynn and Evin McGovern
